An important message to the members of Q-F-C

Attention, members of Queen-Fan-Club,

This is a very important message to the group as a whole, particularly with submissions. While "submitting in the wrong folder" isn't much of a problem these days, this concerns something totally different, and something that after thinking long and hard, I will be putting my foot down and enforcing from this moment onward. I'll try to keep this short, but I have a lot to say, so please read through this and shoot me a comment or note if you have any questions.

It makes me proud to know that we're the largest group dedicated to one of the greatest music groups in the world on DeviantArt. It really does. However, within the 900+ members, there are several who have been submitting blatant photo/image EDITS to the group. has done a similar warning with their group, which you can find here: beatlefreaks.deviantart.com/ar…

The reason I bring this up is because of DA's rules, but at the same time, it reflects negatively on my (and the other admins) part as regulating the rules and such.

This journal (miontre.deviantart.com/journal…) has a great explanation as to what the difference is between edited photos and manipulations. To put it simply, a manipulation has two or more images that are combined (and not stuck together through MS Paint) to make a new one. Our own MabMeddowsMercury has some pretty good examples of photmanipulation in her gallery. An edit, on the other hand, is changing the coloring, lighting, or even adding text to an already copyrighted photograph/image and leaving it at that.

We will no longer be accepting photo edits. We apologize if there is any inconvenience. I have already deleted these submissions in the galleries. If your submission was removed, do not panic! You're still a member here, but follow this new policy! If you try to submit a copyrighted image you will receive a warning. If this attempt happens a second time we reserve the right to ban members from the group depending on the severity of the situation.

To make things easier, here's what we will and will not allow in our galleries:

Acceptable submissions
- Pictures of the band that you took yourself at a concert, meet-up, or anywhere else.
- Photomanipulations in which it is very clear to the audience that it is actually a manip.
- Drawings that had a photo reference.
- Photos that you used in the Queen Meme. The only reason is because some of us can't get access to drawing the band out through a tablet, and this is the only way around it.
- Photos of your Queen merchandise that you took on your own.
- Custom avatars that have been edited by the artist.
- Stamps.
- GIFs.

Unacceptable submissions
- Pictures that were either scanned from a book, magazine, newspaper, etc. and uploaded to dA (it already violates the site's policy, too!)
- Pictures that were taken by Mick Rock, Ross Haflin, or any other professional photographer in the band's history.
- Pictures that were taken by such photographers and edited in some way to change the color, lighting, or overall composition of the photograph.
- Any pictures that have been EDITED that include a link to the original. Even if you claim that it's not your original photograph.
- Photographs made into a collage/wallpaper where there is no other manipulation.
- Pictures that have text added to them. Typography is different; this is MS-painting text over a copyrighted image.
- Screencapped images from the internet.

Hopefully this can clarify everything I want to say. Again, if you have any questions please let me know! This group can still be fun! I'm all in favor of that! But please follow the rules, because it can take as little as one bad apple to spoil the fun for everyone.
