Killer "Queen" Are the Champions of the World

MabMeddowsMercuryOnce upon a time, four British college students decided to form a rock and roll band. Bassist John Deacon was an electrician from Leicestershire. ‘The Legendary Drummer of Cornwall’ Roger Taylor was a singing drummer long before Phil Collins. Virtuoso Brian May built his signature “Red Special“ guitar out of a fireplace. Dynamic frontman Freddie Mercury abandoned his childhood in Zanzibar in order to become one of the greatest rock vocalists and songwriters of all-time. Nearly forty years after that group came to be, their legacy remains. They are in the very Pantheon of Rock.
When the group formed in 1971, Mercury definitely knew Queen would impact the music world greatly. “I won’t be a rock star; I will be a LEGEND!” he once exclaimed. But perhaps no one knew exactly HOW great---HOW legendary they would indeed become.
Queen have countless times been named one of - if not THE greatest rock band of all-time. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Queen albums have spent a total of 27 years on the United Kingdom album charts, more time than any other musical act, including The Beatles, Michael Jackson, and Elvis Presley. The band is also the only musical group in which each single member has written more than one chart-topping single. “Bohemian Rhapsody” was the very first “real” music video, meaning that it was offered to any program, network, or station that would air it, free of charge. “We Will Rock You” and “We Are The Champions” (released in 1977) are two of the band’s most renowned anthems and perhaps even two of rock music’s most well-known songs. The band’s powerhouse performance at Live Aid in July 1985 has been voted THE greatest rock performance of all-time.
“The band has released a total of eighteen number one albums, eighteen number one singles, and ten number one DVDs worldwide, making them one of the world's best-selling music artists.” -Wikipedia.org
Even though Mercury passed away from AIDS-related illness in 1991, the success of this reigning super-group has far from faded. All 72,000 tickets for the “Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert” (held in April 1992) sold out in merely four hours, and the gig raised over 20 million pound for AIDS research. Queen have influenced countless musicians, from the likes of Michael Jackson, Metallica, and Nirvana to Mika, Katy Perry, and Lady Gaga. (Kurt Cobain mentioned Freddie Mercury in his suicide note, and Lady Gaga named herself after the Queen song “Radio Ga Ga“.) Quite recently, Queen’s “Greatest Hits I and II” were the highest-selling albums on the iTunes charts…
Who is anyone to say that Queen aren’t the champions?
This fan club is to ensure the legacy of the Crown Kings of Rock and Roll. Dare you enter the magical Land of Rhye, where the Lilies of the Valley grow?
